Mentor Support Network (MSN) will hold its 2025 Annual General Meeting in early April following a successful strategic planning workshop that focussed on operations for the coming year.
Chair of MSN, Julie Rich, said the management committee had set Tuesday, 8 April for the 2025 AGM which will be held at the function room of the Newcastle Harness Racing Club at Broadmeadow.
“The harness racing club is one of our long-term supporters and we are thankful to them for allowing us to use their facilities with the AGM starting at 11.30am,” said Julie.
“The AGM is an important event on our yearly calendar as the Annual Report and Treasurer’s Report will be presented while it will lead to the election of a new committee and then office bearers for the positions of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary at the first normal meeting.”
Julie said the MSN management committee held a planning workshop in February where topics included the organisation’s aspirations, a refreshed Mission statement, mapping the existing scholarship process, opportunities and sustainability and whether MSN’s sub-committees were ‘fit for purpose’.
“The workshop involved a lot of commitment by committee members and I’m pleased to advise that we came away with some practical outcomes relevant to the evolving nature of MSN,” said Julie.
“Our new Mission statement reads …
‘To promote equity for senior students in the Hunter Region who show potential but are held back by financial disadvantage’
The new statement is complemented by our tagline of supporting students in education.”
A total of 47 student from high schools and vocational colleges in the Hunter Region have been awarded 2025 Educational Scholarship and these will be presented at a formal presentation on Tuesday, 13 May.
