Mentor Support Network (MSN) has some new and exciting news in relation to its Educational Scholarship Program.
In a major development, Chair of MSN, Julie Rich, has advised the program will be expanded for 2026 to provide new avenues of support for existing scholarship holders going into Year 12 and later progressing to tertiary studies.
“Our current Educational Scholarship Program invites students in Year 10 or at a trade college experiencing financial disadvantage to apply for a scholarship valued up to $2,000 to assist with their studies in senior high school or their trade qualification,” said Julie.
“MSN examined its program and asked what else can the organisation do to support students who are committed to their studies and need financial assistance to stay in the education system.
“The result is a two-way plan where we can financially help current scholarship holders in Year 11 (or equivalent) in their studies in Year 12 in 2026 and also assist those students in Year 12 next year if they are contemplating tertiary studies through university, TAFE or another recognised tertiary pathway.
“The initiative is a development of our existing model and MSN for 2026 will be offering:
- a limited number of Senior Educational Scholarships valued at $500 for those students entering Year 12 next year
- a further expansion of the program in 2026 to offer $500 Tertiary Scholarships for outstanding students planning to undertake university studies in 2027.
“The benefit to MSN is developing longer term relationships and demonstrating the impact of having access to these new ‘extension’ scholarships on a student’s life,” explained Julie.
MSN will invite existing Year 11 scholarship holders to apply in late 2025 for a Senior Educational Scholarship. They must meet nominated criteria in continuing to perform well in their studies. Criteria for the Tertiary Scholarships will be announced next year.
Julie said MSN was excited at introducing the extension to its scholarship program as it offered further incentive for students to challenge themselves in their studies.
“The initial Educational Scholarships have given these students a wonderful boost in their senior studies and we believe the extension will provide them with a wonderful opportunity to continue their progress,” said Julie.
